Sweden Team Announcement: Isak Selected Whereas Gyokeres Omitted
The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting in July
Gunners forward Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted from Graham Potter's initial Sweden team selection, whereas Reds forward Alexander Isak received inclusion
The Arsenal forward is set for additional examinations this week following concerns of a muscle problem during Arsenal's Premier League triumph against the Clarets last weekend
The 27-year-old was absent from the Gunners' Champions League success versus the Czech side on Tuesday
Isak Returns
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured since 22 October owing to a groin injury, made the squad to play in World Cup qualifying fixtures versus Switzerland (November 15th) and Slovenia (November 18th)
Additional Premier League Inclusions
- Spurs playmaker the young talent, working his way back after a head knock
- Magpies wide player the Swedish international
Both athletes are among the England-based players selected by ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager the new Swedish coach
Potter's Hiring
Potter was appointed the Swedish federation first for an interim period on 20 October, under four weeks after leaving from the Hammers
Previous coach Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job after the national team's defeat against the Kosovan team on 13 October, an outcome that made direct progression in their World Cup group out of reach
Present Position
The Swedish team are currently last place of their qualifying group with just a single point from their opening four games
Even if they fail to finish second, there remains a chance they might participate in the qualification playoffs because of their performance in the most recent UEFA competition
