Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period such as this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
