19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

He defended 4 early break points in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
