President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Support
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to assist public safety in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments
Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The tragedy led the government to suspend asylum processing and halt providing visas to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
