Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The purpose behind the incident is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Police indicated that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a building close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property managing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.
