In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK to deliver a address at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Activists delayed speech don't think I can catch the plane we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a gulf air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing assistant".

These messages were published on this week alongside more than 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The release by the Congressional committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by matching the dates, events, and places mentioned.

For example, Epstein talks about arranging a jet from the UK for the redacted user in the messages, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, declined to comment on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as the president's closest advisers in the run up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in 2017.

He has admitted he was producing a film about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his podcast recently, he said: "We're going to release the series, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the newly released documents indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier at times appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A few days before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have booked a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in history ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."

UK Politics Discussed in Exchanges

The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in that year.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this day with Nigel, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to the UK prime minister, the struggling British leader at the period, he continued: "They are attempting to proceed. may soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "In my view remaining as long as you can in the UK. Ideal- so people see the commitment of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the guys over here have no balls" and noted "Boris ; Gove; Rees Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to step up".

Theresa May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of lack of support in late 2018.

A spokesman for the political party informed the BBC: "Farage has never been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.

The Congress will vote next week on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with influential individuals was renewed recently after the release of over 20,000 pages from his estate.

A portion of those mentioned the former president, who has repeatedly rejected any impropriety. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for years, but says they parted ways in the 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was first arrested.
