Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
